PETA Amerika en PETA Nederland houden zich bezig met het invoeren en beschermen van dierenrechten. De dieren kunnen evenals mensen lijden en willen ook hun eigen leven leiden; wij hebben daarom geen recht om dieren te gebruiken als voedsel, voor kleding, vermaak, in experimenten of om welke reden dan ook.

In plaats daarvan stelden ze zich op het standpunt dat het lot en de toekomst van zadelrobben en andere dieren op deze aarde onverbrekelijk verbonden zijn met ons eigen lot en onze eigen toekomst.

Stichting Rescue Dogs Europe is a voluntary organisation which helps various dog shelters in Spain in different ways and which looks for new owners for dogs in Holland, Belgium and Germany. These new owners provide a home for dogs which have strayed or been abandoned, a home in which the dogs can now enjoy a carefree and happy life. We are confronted with horrific news every day!
A great number of Pointers, Spaniels and Greyhounds are squeezed into small cages and starved, to be later released for hunting purposes. If the poor animals assist the hunters to hunt successfully the females are used for breeding and afterwards are hung from a tree where they die quickly. If the dogs do not do well, they are hung up in such a way that their feet are just touching the ground. Their death agony is more prolonged this way. On other occasions they are burned alive during parties celebrated by the hunters. Rottweilers and German shepherds are reserved for the sad fate of being tied up with a chain in a plot of land or a farmhouse all their lives.
The Pit-bull type dogs are largely used, especially by gypsies, for breeding. Later they are used for dog fighting. Smaller dogs, pets and puppies are purchased for Spanish children almost like toys, but once they grow up and are not a novelty any more, they are taken to dog shelters or simply abandoned in the streets.
